Chairperson - Women in Engineering Christchurch 

About Us

Women in Engineering Christchurch's mission is to connect, empower and elevate women at all stages of their career. We foster a vibrant and supportive community to amplify engagement and create a sense of belonging. We run approximately 10 events per year, ranging from industry panels and speaker sessions to networking evenings and social gatherings. 

The Opportunity

We're looking for an enthusiastic Chairperson to join our committee of five. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills while making a real impact in the engineering community. You'll lead the committee, helping guide and shape the direction of the society as it continues to grow.​

What You'll Do

As Chairperson, you'll be responsible for:

  • Chairing fortnightly Friday morning committee meetings, setting the agenda and keeping discussion on track

  • Providing leadership and direction for the society's strategy and priorities

  • Acting as the main point of contact and public face for the society

  • Supporting and coordinating the committee, delegating tasks across members as needed

  • Representing WIE Christchurch at events and within the wider engineering community

  • Working with the committee to help keep the society financially and operationally on track

Time Commitment

Approximately 2 hours per week, with some flexibility depending on the event calendar. You'll need to attend events in person and participate in occasional in-person meetings. 

Who We're Looking For 

  • Christchurch-based individuals who are passionate about supporting women in engineering

  • Organized self-starters who can manage multiple priorities

  • People who enjoy leading and facilitating group discussion

  • Team players who enjoy collaborating with others

  • Ideally, some leadership or committee experience (but not essential)
